Nomex is a material which was originally developed as a fibre for use in flame-resistant fabrics but which also has advantageous properties in certain acoustic applications. In its ‘honeycomb’ form it has recently been adopted by luthiers in guitar construction as a modern innovation, as with this Raimundo guitar. The result is an instrument that is cosmetically the same as traditional solid-top instrument with a very good tone, but one of a slightly different character.
The Raimundo 149nx has a timbre that is open, smooth and well-balanced, with a colour that becomes brighter as the guitar is played.
